Re: Hello From Thousand Oaks
Hey, Welcome to the hobby/club. This club is full of knowledge and very intelligent. The best thing about this hobby is there is no right answer, what might work for me might not work for you (yes there is the common stuff that works for everyone). I can tell you from my experience that when I first started with the club I knew very little about keeping coral and fish. Once I got help and different ideas from people it got a lot easier. Now I have a 135g mixed reef that is doing really well.
What kind of tank do you have? Fish Only, Reef, Ect..

Welcome! Glad to see you aboard! 55gallon is a bit small for a koran angel but not too many people follow tank size guidelines. Saltwater hobby is not cheap nor easy but I will tell you, you are in the right place. It would be awesome to see you come out to the meeting and I am sure you will get some great advice. I will be there and we openly welcome all levels of hobbyists!

Re: Hello From Thousand Oaks
I get it from my work (doc aquarium). Or Bulk Reef Supply. IO is fine for you for now, but once you start to get into stony corals or clams then I would make the switch.

Welcome! As for salt choice it's all preference. I've been using IO for years with no issue and I can keep anything. :-) it may be cheap but doesn't mean it's not good enough. Never a fan of any other salt and I've tried almost all of them.

Re: Hello From Thousand Oaks
I have had good luck with seachem, brightwell and Red Sea products. I have a friend who has a tank that is "dreamy" and he swears by bionic's line but who knows. Kent I used back in my freshwater geophagus and discus days and it was stellar. Never really used it for salt. From my understanding there are much more complete two and three part mixes out these days.
And mxreefer has the best corals around. You can see the pictures of his pictures of coral on the Red Sea bottles! lol nothin but love. Let's get that system running Cory!
I have a TON of stuff for sale right now because I just found a new tank to upgrade to. Let me know if you need anything. I'll give you club pricing.
