DIY Dosing pump
Ok so I found these dosing pumps on eBay and am thinking of buying a few to try and make a DIY dosing pump through my apex.

Looks like a fun project. Don't know much about the electrical part, but as long as you can get that part down - these should work fine with the apex.

Re: DIY Dosing pump
There's lots that can be done with that... I would add a pwm using 12v mosfets and program an atmega chip to control those motors, that way you can set it to either dose 0.1ml per minute 60ml per minute or anywhere in between, have it set up to do it every 10 minutes, every 30 minutes, every hour what ever the user needs. Then you could add a display with a few buttons to make it simple to program.
I have the circuit board covered, all we need is someone versed in C++... ANYONE??? ANYONE???

Re: DIY Dosing pump
I believe this is doable but can we build it cheaper than this doser
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dosing-pump-Peristaltic-dosing-pump-for-aquarium-lab-/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400338815746
Its already 89.99
If you buy 3 peristalic motors at 14.99 plus the electronic parts, power supply and enclosure...you mabye be over 89.99
SLP, you will have to build a board with an eprom and do all the coding, etc.

Mike, that link is for adding onto another unit... it can't be used by itself. I think that once someone writes the code we will be under $90.

Re: DIY Dosing pump
I have a friend that is a software engineer that can do the coding for us. If you can write the requirements and specifications. I can send it to him and tell us how much work is involved.
I have a few options on people who can do the coding. I do work with a bunch of engineers but everyone here is mostly electrical and mechanical.
C++ should be easy since most software engineers start learning C++. I did take one course in C++ but only enough to get by haha.

Re: DIY Dosing pump
I was looking through ebay and came across these with free shipping. and if you buy 4 you get 1 free. plus it doesn't take 4 weeks to receive them either.
I was going to order 1 for a seperate project so if anyone wants to go in and take advantage of the buy 4 get one free deal let me know.
