Hello, I actually live in Santa Barbara but haven't found any local clubs, so I'm hoping I'm welcome in yours. I just started my tank, currently cycling with hermits, so wish me luck! I have always found people on these types of forums to be invaluable mentors, so here I am! Have a great weekend.

    Welcome

Santa Barbara isn't that far of a drive, hopefully you will make it to some of our meetings.

I do have a question about your cycling of the tank. Why are you using hermit crabs? there are many better ways to di it.

Thanks guys, I will definitely try to make some of the meeting and chat with you all.

sisterlimonpot: I'm using hermit crabs because my LFS (Aquatic Design SB) suggested it as a way to kick start it. I'm a week into it and still no ammonia/nitrites/nitrates. I'm using cured live rock, so maybe that's why I'm not seeing any jump in anything? I don't pretend to know what's best and am VERY open to good tips, so if you have any other ideas I'd appreciate it.

coryg: I have a Current Cardiff tank (all in one) so the display is about 24 gallons (I know, a little small for a beginner, but it's as big as my space will allow for now...) I'll see if I can figure out how to post some pics when I get home so you guys can suggest any changes I should make.

Welcome! There is a thread in here somewhere that explains how to post pics. Not sure where though...

Welcome Ceasar! Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

The thread on how to post pics is here

FYI, there is a central coast club (CCRK) as well but I think we are still closer to you.
