    Yo,

As most of you know I am pretty new to the area. I absolutely love to fish, I did it for a profession for 5 years but it's really been a life passion.

I am looking for some people who live in Ventrua/Santa Barbara county area that would be willing to show me some local spots, salt or fresh. I'd be happy to exchange tips or things I learned living on the Ocean for 5 years.

Let me know, maybe we could set up a charter or just hit some spots. We also have a family cabin in the eastern seirras we could maybe hit that sometime too.

    Lido,

    Depends what type of fishing...
If you want to do surf fishing, go to the end of 5th street and there is plenty of surf perch to catch...
If you like deep sea fishing, take an open party out of Channel Islands Sportfishing (CISCOs), the rock fishing just opened for the season.
If you like fresh water, Lake Casitas has great bass fishing.

lake casitas isnt doing so hot either is Chumash right now... but Chumash would be your best bet and if you go there. There is a blow hole that fish love to hang out by because the water flow, or they call the wall... i haven't been up there sense last season our boat is down right now so kinda sucking. I heard last season pike was hitting pretty good up at bishop

I fished last night and it was a little slow.  Things were really good about a week ago, right before the barometric pressure change.  I haven't been out on a boat in a hot minute, like august 2013.  Rockfish season started last week, it has been pretty good action from what I hear.  I'm not too into rockfishing though, i prefer pelagics and WSB.  I do know the surf perch and halibut have been biting decent off the beach.

I haven't fished Casitias or Castaic this year at all.  But i've also heard the water is way down (pretty much the case everywhere in CA) but that doesn't typically stop the fish from feeding, just messes with the spawn and in some places the ability to stock fish.

I hear there are some killer natural trout spots in the Ojai/Los Padres area.  That is really my next mission.  To start hiking around and find some of these spots.  I pretty much knew every place in Orange County there were fish!  I feel like i'm out of my element, but a good fisherman overcomes adversity.

I usually just fish trout in Bishop, not too sure about the pike bite. I am not even sure they have pike. I only know of NorCal to have pike. But then again I could be wrong.

Awesome!  Some nice fish there.  Here are some of my catches from this year and 2013.  The real big seabass is a couple years back. It made bloody decks cover photo.
