TV Show "TANKED" Empty TV Show "TANKED"

I don't know about you guys but I DVR'd this show from the beginning, I really enjoy it for the entertainment value, granted there is some informative stuff embedded in there as well. People at work ask me all the time if I watch it and it triggers lots of conversation and questions about the hobby (which in my opinion is a good thing). I honestly believe that just because of the show there is a friend of my wife's that wants me to set up a nano tank for her husband as a surprise.

However in the hobby arena this show has gotten a lot of flack due to what appears to be bad practices that are shown on TV. Here is my friend Marc Levenson (AKA Melev) from Reef Addicts interviewing Brett from the hit show TANKED at MACNA 2011.

Ha, I love that show, It's funny that when you have an idea about what it takes to get a salt water tank going, it doesn't take much to realize that there's a lot of scripted stuff in there. I knew that there was no way they would actually fill a tank up with hot tap water and then run down to get ice to cool it down...

And if they did do that, then 2 months from know that tank would look like a planted tank, with all the algae growing everywhere.

I like the show and hope there is a season 2.

Yeah, that show ended so abruptly that I thought it was canceled. It's good to hear Bret say that it's coming back for a season 2.

Yeah, I didn't like the show just because I thought they were giving our hobby a bad name. Now that I see the interview, It makes me wonder how many other reality TV shows do that?

I'll have to watch them on re-run and form my own opinion.

Mr saltwater tank did an interview with bret also although bret did most of the talking. I like the show i just wish that animal planet would put the correct info into the show and not have them filling tanks with hose watter and other stuff they should have them getting rodi water and putting it in there. But other than that its a great show. I remmber the one episode when they were setting up the fung shi or whatever tank and they went to buy coral. The one lady that came with them is like "whats a frag?" and im like wtf and i turned it off lol but i got over it and finished watchin it.

You can't take it seriously, it's a reality show on TV. You can't expect someone that works in the front office of an acrylic company to know what a frag is. Like Brett said, he does it for the industry, and really only concerned with the business aspect of it, which is reasonable when you employ people that rely on that paycheck to put food on the table for their families, and you have to let them go. The show is a way for them to fight back and bring the industry to the forefront so to speak, and hopefully make more jobs.

I noticed a few things off too, but its nice to know its been edited out. hopefully they fix it next season since we don't want a bunch of newbies killing fish because a show mis informed them

If they're getting information from the show then they need to suffer the consequences. TLC put it best, "it's a reality show on TV" it's for entertainment...
