Re: What Controller Do You Use?
i have an ACIII, for the very reason bvysochin mentioned. throughout the time I have had it, I have received many text messages that something was out of tolerance, which allowed me to react in time to save my reef. with that alone, I find it to be invaluable.

Crusty, if you had a controller, it could've saved your fish by emailing/texting you when you lost power.

AC3, too bad verizon keeps killing my ability to login remotely. I cant see it anymore. Vince, how did you get the breakout box to work? I wired mine up and put in all the commands but it never did squat.

I never tried it with an AC3, I didnt have a breakout box when I still had my AC3, but with my apex I use this:
Fallback OFF
Set OFF
If Switch1 OPEN Then OFF
If Switch1 CLOSED Then ON
If Switch2 OPEN Then OFF
If Outlet Maintenance = ON Then OFF

Sorry but would not have helped. Can't get/see an Email unless I'm sitting at the computer. Can't receive a text when the phone is turned off. I was asleep and I turn my cel off when I sleep.
I'm not a slave to technology, it's a slave to me.
The silences was enough to wake me. And I fixed the power problem.

I'm sure you can program it to call your house phone, cell phone, anything else.
Everyone else who has one wouldn't go back to not having one.

Re: What Controller Do You Use?
Somehow my modem/router turned off my open port. I for the life of me can not get it to turn back on. I really hate the DSL modem that I have. It is awful. Its a constant battle with it. I cant open any ports on it anymore, and now Im losing speed daily...having to reboot every day. Im trying to get verizon to replace it, but they are being stubborn.

Re: What Controller Do You Use?
I had them change my router and DVR with no issues. Are you using the modem/router (Actiontec) from verizon? With all the money they charge us, it shouldn't be an issue. Do you have a business service with them and have a static IP?

Re: What Controller Do You Use?
yes, actiontec. Worst modem ever. Hard to use, never seems to give me the speeds I pay for.
No business service, no need, why pay 4X the price, im not streaming or running a server.

DSL. I dont think they will ever give my neighborhood fios...we cant even get the streets paved.
Its all in the modem, I had the port open forever and then one day it closed and wont reopen. Then I started losing speeds...its been all downhill from there.

Re: What Controller Do You Use?
I couldnt tell if that was an option...plus not sure what to get. Ideas, suggestions. I would gladly upgrade away from this crappy one if I could. I would love for Verizon to just replace it for free though.

http://forums.verizon.com/t5/High-Speed-Internet-DSL-and-Dial/dsl-modem/td-p/349659
"Any DSL modem that supports the ADSL or ADSL2 standard will work with Verizon's service. Just keep in mind if it isn't a model Verizon supports, you just won't get support over the phone for that modem and Verizon will be more likely to blame that piece of equipment. But if you do have any problems, just stop by here. User-owned equipment doesn't bug us at all since many of the reported troubles are rather common regardless of equipment."

Re: What Controller Do You Use?
Keep in mind if you have Uverse for your tv you can plug your apex in through the ethernet port in the back of your Uverse tv box
