    Recharging DI Empty Recharging DI

Post by sisterlimonpot Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:31 pm

Well I have been collected spent DI for the last 3 years and I think that I finally have enough to recharge it.

My plan is to get everything that I need in the next week or 2 and then attempt it.

Has anyone else ever done this?

Yes. I will document my experiences, good or bad. The consensus is that it's too much work, but I want to at least do it once so I can form my own opinion.

I'll have to look but I know the chemicals are sodium hydroxide and muriatic acid. the containers have to be a certain plastic but because of heat I want to get glass containers.

no that is a dye that some products have to give you an idea of when the DI is spent.

However the cation, once recharged will turn from brown to purple.

I retract my statement. the minute I poured the sodium hydroxide the ation turned blue. so it must be the type of ation it is.
