    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys. If you remmber i brought up the topic a while ago about setting up a tank for my high school marine science class. Well i have been working on trying to get stuff donated. So far i have a tank thanks to TATs in Thousand oaks and $300 worth to spend on equipment thanks to premium aquatics. I figured i would start a thread for the tank so everyone can see how the tank is progressing. So here is the tank. Its a aqua japan aj-50 which i know is not a top brand name but the design is great! Its an all in one and it has a glass lid to kepp all the crudy hands out of the tank. I will update when i have the tank in the classroom sometime this week. I am waiting to hear from jason at premium aquatics how to go about ordering the rest of the equipment.

Ps: sorry for the bad pic i didnt think it would be that hard to see with all the junk around it Smile

Very cool! It's great your doing this. I believe this is a subject that is lacking from HS curriculum.

NPHS Marine Science Nano Empty aquarium donations

Post by joflo Mon Mar 26, 2012 2:00 pm

I have had good luck in contacting posters on craig's list asking them if they will
take a tax receipt for donation from the school for a greater value than they want to sell for.
Mention it is going to a school and they are very willing.

so i brought it into the classroom yesterday. the teacher loved it!!! I also ordered a reef keeper light with float switch, two koralia 750s, a mag float algae scraper, and a toms aqua lifter pump for top off. All thanks to Premium Aquatics! I will see if i can grab a pic of the tank in the classroom today.

just a thought, but, start a new thread and see if people would be willing to donate like 5-10$ Then you could go out and buy the light/DIY light. I know I won't be willing to fork over 80$ for a DIY light for the school, but I would be willing to chip in 10$ towards it. Just food for thought.
