My 14 gal nano reef.
Well I have a 14 gallon bio cube that I have had for just over a year now. I have a mated pair of OC clowns, cleaner goby and a tiny 3 1/2yr old blue hippo tang. I know you are wondering about a bht in a 14 gallon tank. I got my bht about a year ago and has not grown an inch since i got it. I got it from a reputable LFS(so they werent just trying to get money). But it is about the size of a quarter and doing fine in my tank. As far as corals, i have torch, kenya tree, couple of mushrooms, assorted zoo's and button polyps, a small frog spawn, green and red favia, a small symphyllia coral with 2 eyes, and a green trumpet coral. I will post pics later.

Re: My 14 gal nano reef.
Well most of you know that I shut this tank down a few weeks ago and now Im in the process of staging the tank to either to set it up now or a when I move back to SC. Just depends on what and when the Navy decides to let me get out. I have already upgraded the lighting from the stock PC's to LED's. You can see the build here. http://www.masvc.org/t439-aqua-style-led-kit-for-biocube-14. Now with the help of Jimmy, I designed and drew up a overflow box and from there Jimmy took over and did the build on it(pics below). I must say Jimmy did an amazing job. Im planning on haveing the first chamber for the protein skimmer and heater, the second chamber as a refugium and some sort of mechanical filtration and the thrid chamber will be reserved for an upgraded return pump and a UV sterilizer and the heater if it doesnt fit in the first chamber.
Before overflow.
Jimmy's creation.
Installed.
This thing is tiny. Less than 3" wide and just about 2" tall with 1/8" slots for overflow.

Well I will take some pics today. I've got the tank cycling. I couldn't fight the temptation anymore.

Re: My 14 gal nano reef.
Yes I did use ucsb water. I buffered with alk, ph, dosed some calcium, mag and potassium. And mixed with rodi to bring salinity down a bit I will test it later with params.

Re: My 14 gal nano reef.
No I don't want to lose any fish. I'm going to feed the tank. Hopefully I will have a small cycle. I used established rock. Dead sand and added some from my big tank and ucsb water. I'm expecting some bacteria die off. I just don't know how bad it will be.

Re: My 14 gal nano reef.
No use one and only by dr tim that way you dont have to wait for a cycle. Its all like nitrafieing bacteria. You put in the required dose then add a fish. You wont even notice any high levels like u would in a cycle

Before I tested I was 1.028. After I diluted I got it down 1.025.
What did you use to test it?

Re: My 14 gal nano reef.
I used a refractometer. I calibrated it again and it was close. I'm going to buffer it and check the salinity again.

Re: My 14 gal nano reef.
Well I got some Dr. Tims Aquatics One and Only and I added it to the tank. I also went ahead and bought a pair of clowns for it. As far as fish go I think thats all I will put in. Unless I a goby/shrimp combo. The mojority of the tank will be corals. I have taken a few picks and i post some up. I bought some corals on my way back up from Vista Ca on thursday. I stopped by Encinitas Tropical Fish and picked up some Magicians Zoas, From Tongs Aquariums I grab some cool looking paly's and some neon yellow flower pots, and then i went to Age of Aquariums and grab some Gorilla Nipple Zoas(intrestesing name i know).
Yellow Flower pot.
Up and Running. I had to pull the lenses off to get rid of spot light effect.

I bought it from Fins in Camarillo. I think I paid $30 bucks for it. Sadly it has passed.

Bodgen and Crystal rock, their setup is amazing. I picked up several frags from them a while back and all have been doing extremely well.
