    Reefoctopus BH100 Empty Reefoctopus BH100

Post by Sonubhai Fri Apr 18, 2014 3:23 am

    Hello All:

Ok so I have a Reef Octopus BH100 running for the past 4 months, I have some issues with it.

    1) Too Loud.
    2) Does not produce enough foamy skim mate.

I have already cleaned it thoroughly and the connections are all good as far as i can see.

I have a 55 Gal Fish with live rock tank with a Fluval 306 Canister Filter. I use RO water.

    and have
    2 Percula Clownfish
1 Koran angel (I know I know my tank is not big enough)
    2 Green Chromis
    1 Yellow Goby
    1 Sand Shifting Starfish

What am i doing wrong, I have i decent bio load. or the Skimmer is a "Budget" model and when I can I should update to a Aquamaxx HOB.
    Thanks

IMO, your bio load is very small. The amount of skim mate will also depend on your feeding habits. Reef octopus makes great skimmers. Is the noise from it sucking in air?

In case you've not already done so inspect the needle wheel/impeller for damage, and make sure the air tubing is clear of obstruction.

I took it apart today and gave it a good clean. the Wheel/impeller looks good no issues there assembled everything back up, still no sign of bubbles clearing up. Will try to post some pics in the morning.
