Are there any puffer fish that are safe to use in a reef tank ….. I really like the porcupine puffer fish and would like to have one with a pair of clown fish?

yea the only puffers that would do ok in a reef tank are saddle back puffers. otherwise any other puffers would eat small fish.

Really? I had a dogface puffer in my reef for years. Never ate any fish. Liked a few of my montis, but that was about it. I keep puffers in almost all my tanks. I have 3 different Canthigaster species.

If you feed them enough they are very docile.

keep them fat and happy and they won't eat your corals. just like my copperband, I feed him twice a day and he hasn't touched any of my zoanthid.

I think the bigger thing is that, nothing in this hobby is airtight or 100%. Especially when dealing with the living stuff. The fish, are fish, and each has a personality and preference, corals can change growth and colors...so while something might be a good guideline, nothing is ever 100%.
