    Bee sting Empty Bee sting

Post by sisterlimonpot Sat Sep 24, 2011 6:43 pm

so, my daughter was playing outside in the backyard and she was stung by a bee... on the bottom of her foot. talk about a horrific ordeal. she was screaming at the top of her lungs, my wife and I ran to her aid. we brought her into the house and the stinger was still in there. my wife quickly grabbed some tweezers and pulled the stinted out. My girl was shaking uncontrollably not so much from the pain but from the experience. I tried to calm her down by telling her a story of my first bee sting (I got stung on my butt) that brought her to a mixture of laughter and fear but after a few minutes she settled down a bit. but here's where it gets good, apparently the bee was crawling around on her shirt and fell to the countertop at that point she started up again... i grabbed the thing and held it in my hand showing her that its no longer a threat. she has since calmed down and resting in front of the tv.

neither my wife and I are allergic to bees so hopefully she will be ok.

the bee is still alive. we talked about letting her exact her revenge by smashing the bee, but that probably is going to send the wrong message.

Usually when you get stjng you dont want to pull the stinger straight out. This breaks off the pouch of poisin or whatever at the tip. What you are supposed to do is grab a credit card or somthing and scrape it out. This pushes all of the stinger out instead of leaving the poisin stuff in

I made sure the wife grabbed the stinger at the base, that way she she didn't squeeze anymore poison in. if I had to do all over again I would have scraped it with a fingernail.

apparently she's not allergic she's walking around on it. we immediately gave her an antihistamine and put cortizone cream on the wound. she's seems to be fine hopefully that's it.

glad to hear she is ok. it must be something in the water, jen and I brought lily to the ER last night... She is ok, but we thought she pulled her arm out of her socket.

some ligament is loose in kids arms till they are 5, some kids are more prone to it than others, mine being one of them. so when we lifted her by her arms, it slid out of whack. She is ok, and no permanent damage, the next morning you wouldn't even know it happened. We just can't lift her by her arms anymore....

I have had my share of ER trips. I have 3 boys so I'm sure I'm not done with the ER trips either.

More than likely. I always get sick from it and then pass it to my kids. Luckly I blew my nose quick enough to not get sick this time.
