    BRS magnesium Empty BRS magnesium

Post by sisterlimonpot Fri Oct 28, 2011 10:59 am

At RAP I purchased some BRS Magnesiuim that I have a question about, I noticed that Paul has a way to stir his magnesium mixture keeping it mixed so it can be evenly dosed with a dosing pump. I'm wondering, do I have to do the same with this brand of magnesium? And if so, Paul I want to get one of those stirrers.

I use the stirrer because I'm anal and a chemist (ANALytic chemist), so I would do that with anything liquid I was dosing, just my 2 cents.

Good luck. You can order them via VWR or Thermo Fisher. Standard stir plate, or I might be able to grab an old one from the recycle heap here. Cant guarantee it will work.

If you get a broken one I could probably fix it. what type of material is the actual stirrer made of?

But your saying it's not necessary to keep it moving?

i think once you get the mag into solution it is fine, but i like to keep mine mixed and even, since it is not a homogeneous solution you will get variance across the container. same reason why you continually mix your stored saltwater...

Hmm interesting... Can you get me 3 stir bars? If so I'm going to attempt to DIY a couple stirrer plates.

I shake up my dosing bottle every week. I am using the Bubble Magus doser and works great.
